FREE Trees for the Climate: Plant a Beautiful Carbon Sink

On October 29th, from 9am until 2pm at the Waco Downtown Farmer’s Market (500 Washington Ave), the Waco Friends of the Climate will give away crape myrtle trees. Come early in order to be sure to get a tree, as the supply is limited to 400 trees.

Everyone can take action on the climate crisis by planting a beautiful crape myrtle as a carbon sink. These trees are Lagerstroemia indica (Crape Myrtle), Biloxi multitrunk variant, with beautiful light pink flowers. They are deciduous trees, up to 30ft height and firewise (less flammable). They are highly popular as landscape trees and tolerate drought and slightly alkaline soils.

Planting & care instructions will be provided with each tree.

The prognosis of the climate is dire, but everyone can take action by planting a tree. This is a wonderful first step in acting on the climate crisis, providing inspiration for more action.

Follow up of results will be requested. Email to anorthc@aol.com.
