CONTINUE "Go Renewable Waco" campaign: COMMENT TODAY ON WEAK CITY Budget

From Alan Northcutt:

On Tuesday, September 1, the Waco City Council will vote on the 2020-2021 budget.  After all our efforts, the budget is still not serious about the climate crisis.  I did word search and found NO mention of the terms" solar panel" or "electric vehicle or car."  I screened all 375 pages of the budget and found that the climate crisis is not even addressed. It’s really unbelievable in my view.  So I plan to call in Tuesday and comment, and I request all our members submit a written comment.  It’s easy and quick and  will help back up my statement to the Council.  You can be general and just state that you want the budget to address our existential threat, or you can take a look at the budget and make more specific demands.  Here is a link to the proposed budget:

Here is the procedure to make a written comment about the budget.  It must be done before 11 am on Tuesday:

  1. Follow this link:    http://www.waco-texas.com/council-speaker.asp
  2. On this comment page fill out the lines.  There is no agenda number, so just put 2020-2021 budget.  The actual comment portion is at the bottom of the page.
  3. Also, I would mark the "against" box since the budget is so poor.

Thanks for helping with this action.  We persuaded the Council to move before on climate, and we must continue to apply pressure.  Acting on climate change NOW is the right thing to do, and we must persuade the City Council to include climate mitigation in this budget.  Talk is cheap;  the City needs to place these steps in its actual budget.
