Monday, February 3rd

703 N. Valley Mills Dr.
Waco
6 pm: Free Pasta/Salad Buffet followed by business, film & discussion
Run Time @25 Minutes

L'eau est La Vie (Water is Life):  From Standing Rock to the Swamp.is our film for February.  This is a special screening arranged through the producer, and the film is not available elsewhere.

L'eau est La Vie tells the story of the water protectors in Louisiana, as they fight construction of the Bayou Bridge Pipeline, the tail end of the Dakota Access Pipeline, the Black Snake.  This short documentary, approximately 25 minutes long, has a great intensity and sense of reality.  The scenes of conflict with police and contractors are disturbing, and viewers will be inspired.  This selection will allow plenty of time for discussion.

Alan Northcutt Lectures At MCC

Alan D. Northcutt, of Waco Friends of Peace-Climate, provided two lectures on The Climate Crisis & COP25 on Jan. 23 at MCC. One of the lectures was at the amazing MCC T.I.D.E.S. Coral Reef Restoration Class, and the other was at an advanced Baylor Advertising/Copywrite course.  Many thanks to Professors Randell and C. Burleson, respectively, for inviting Alan to speak and for including him in the MCC class picture. Students in both classes were very attentive, interested and eager to interact.

Any groups of any nature interested in a presentation on WHY THIS IS AN EMERGENCY, with solutions, please email Alan at anorthc@aol.com.

Recycle Styrofoam February 1st!

Save your Christmas styrofoam packing materials.  Drop them off at the huge parking lot at Waco Dr. & Valley Mills Dr., in front of Ocean Buffet.  This service is FREE.

Come early:  Styrofoam will be accepted from 8:00 am until 11:00 am, or until our vehicle is full.

Bring shaped/molded foam in one container - food service items (cups, containers) in a separate container.  Rinse all pieces so they are clean.  NO peanuts, lids or straws.

We will take the Styrofoam to Waxahachie for recycling.   This will be a great opportunity to responsibly deal with this hard-to-recycle material and help keep our land and waters free of styrofoam waste, lessen material in landfills, and cut GHG emissions.
