Instructions for Delivery of Art

   From Alan Northcutt:

·        DATE:  Sunday, August 25, 2pm until 8pm.   (I will be there during those hours).
·         VENUE:  Waco Winery, 708 Austin Avenue, Waco, Tx 76701.
You enter a door at street level, proceed straight down the hallway.  At the end there is an elevator on your left and a staircase on your right.  You may use either stairs or elevator.  When you reach the 2nd floor you will find me, and we will take care of your art.
·        PARKING:  there is some parking on the street (Austin) in front of or near the Waco Winery.  However, sometimes parking is not available.  In that case I suggest the parking lot behind the Hippodrome (same block as Winery), or the parking lot across the street from the Hippodrome parking (very large).
·        SIGN-IN SHEET:  Please look for this sheet before you leave.  This will help us to keep track of the art and the artists.
·        ART HARDWARE:  Please be certain your art has an appropriate hanging device on the back.  Usually horizontal wires are preferred.  It the art has no hanging attachments we may have to contact the artist to return and install these.
·        INFORMATION CARD:  It is crucial that a card be attached to the back of each piece with the following information.  You may use whatever card is available as we will provide uniform quality labels.  On your card please very carefully print the following:
                                  --the artist’s name
--the title of the work, year completed
                                  --the medium of the work
--the size of the work (height x width in cm)
--the price of the work if for sale, with email address
                                    or phone to contact
·         ARTIST’S STATEMENT:  If this is part of your piece, please type, or otherwise construct very neatly.   Attach to your art.

AUGUST MEETING: Sustainable Resource Practices Advisory Board Meeting

Date: Wednesday, August 21, 2019
Time: 4 pm until approximately 5:30pm
Venue: Waco City Hall, 3rd Floor Conference Room

The SRPAB will finally convene again, and we will be there to greet it.  We were able to get the Board thinking about decarbonization and renewable energy, and it sent a list of recommendations to the City Council last March.  But it’s obvious the Board does not grasp the fact that we have a climate emergency, as it has not considered climate change for about 5 months.  As of today the agenda is not posted, but we need to again make the point that recycling is not enough and that the Board must consider all avenues of GHG cutting and carbon sink enhancement.  Alan Northcutt expects to speak at some point during the meeting.

Dinner will be provided after the Board meeting.

Since this Board meeting falls within our ongoing Go Renewable Waco campaign, this will be considered our August meeting and we need everyone to attend.

STYROFOAM RECYCLING DAY: Saturday, August 17, 2019

Finally, a chance to recycle your dreaded styrofoam!

Since no styrofoam recycling is available in Waco, FOP/C has decided to offer this service free of charge on the 17th of this month.  The plan is to receive styrofoam at the large parking lot at the corner of Waco and Valley Mill Drives from 8am until 11am, and then drive the Tahoe to the Dart Container Corporation recycling drop off site in Waxahachie.  We ask that all our members support this drive by bringing your styrofoam to the drop-off site Saturday morning.  Please place your molded/shaped blocks in a bag and your food service containers and cups in a separate bag.  All items should be clean and rinsed.  Peanuts, lids and straws are not accepted.

Come early – styrofoam will be accepted until the vehicle is full.  This will be a great opportunity to deal responsibly with this hard-to-recycle material.   If we collect a large volume of material, we may do this on a regular repeating basis.

Please support this work by bringing your styrofoam to the parking lot Saturday morning--look for the white Tahoe SUV.
