YARD SIGN BUILDING BASH

Friends of Peace/Climate will host a gathering to make yard signs on Sunday, June 18, 6 pm, at the Good Neighbor Settlement House, 2301 Colcord Avenue, Waco.

A yard sign is the perfect way to shout your support of the crucial Paris Agreement and reject the destructive anti-science agenda of the Trump administration.  Construct a yard sign with others as we make it fun -- a sign building PARTY!

We provide some heavy poster board, stencils, markers, metal mounting stakes, sealing tape.
Of course bring your own supplies for your favorite custom look and message.
We provide snacks to amplify the enjoyment.
FREE event.
It is actually more satisfying to display a sign you have personally constructed.
Imagine the power of 100s of signs peppering Waco.
This is OUR responsibility--no one else will do this in Waco.
Party facilitated by FOP/C member Travis Hipp.

6:30 Film & Discussion

The Age of Consequences is our outstanding film for June, providing detailed coverage of a climate topic which we have had some knowledge of previously. But the film provides full detail of this crucial area of climate change impacts.  The documentary investigates how climate change impacts resource scarcity, migration, and conflict through the lens of US national security and global stability.  Distinguished admirals, generals and military veterans take us beyond the headlines--unpacking how drought, extreme weather, and sea level rise can all function as "accelerants of instability or conflict."  These Pentagon insiders make the compelling case that, if left unchecked, these threats and risks will continue to grow in scale and frequency with grave implications for peace and security in the 21st century.

"Eye-opening." -- John DeFore, The Hollywood Reporter
"A wake up call" -- Edward Davis, Indiewire
"Compelling and frightening" -- The New York Times
