Waco Friends of Peace has been wanting for a long time to show a film that addresses the catastrophe known as the War on Drugs.  We have been waiting to find a film that we thought would do the subject justice.  We believe that our August film does just that.  The House I Live In, winner of the Sundance Film Festival, has been widely acclaimed as the best documentary movie of 2012.

For over 40 years, the War on Drugs has accounted for 45 million arrests, cost over one trillion dollars, has made America the world’s largest jailer, and has damaged poor communities at home and abroad.  Yet drugs are cheaper, purer and more available today than ever.  Where did we go wrong, and what is the path toward healing?  Directed by award-winning filmmaker Eugene Jarecki, The House I Live In goes inside America’s longest war to examine the effects of drug laws on everyone from the dealer and the grieving mother to the jailer and the federal judge.

Winner - Grand Prize Documentary - Sundance Film Festival - 2012
