The Friends of Peace always attempts to present the newest, most important documentaries available for our educational effort in Waco.  Thus, we are excited to screen the 2012 film HOW TO SURVIVE A PLAGUE, the story of the brave young men and women who successfully reversed the tide of the AIDS epidemic.  This documentary contains incredible footage from the actual events, not the usual interview format.  It details how an improbable group of activists (including Act Up and TAG) bucked oppression and infiltrated government agencies and the pharmaceutical industry, helping to identify promising new medications and treatments--and thereby saved their own lives and ended the darkest days of the AIDS plague.

Academy Award nominee for Best Documentary

Winner of the New York Film Critics Circle Award

"Extraordinary. One of the most important documentaries in years or decades."
