WMD: Weapons of Mass Deception is a documentary film describing the role of the mainstream media before the invasion of Iraq and during the occupation. The filmmaker Danny Schechter is a veteran producer who previously worked for CNN and ABC. The film points out that prior to the war the media did little more than serve as a cheerleader for Bush. For example, only 3% of new sources during broadcasts were from anti-war voices. He notes the Iraq war is "war as entertainment", complete with countdown and kickoff. Further, the anti-war movement seemed to be invisible because the major networks denied airtime for ads from those opposed to the war. (More info on film here)
